Grey Owl
‘Grey Owl’ was the most celebrated ‘Native American’ of his day. But he was also a bigamist, a showman and a liar, and when he was exposed his fall from grace was spectacular. Grey Owl was nevertheless an environmental crusader way ahead of his time who fought passionately to save the environment from mankind’s destructive ways. He also made a profound impression on the young David Attenborough and his brother Richard, which resulted in this fascinating film about a complex, conflicted ‘hero’ directed by Richard Attenborough (Gandhi, Cry Freedom) and starring former ‘James Bond’ Pierce Brosnan. The screenplay is by William Nicholson (Gladiator).
